How to Create a Virtual PC on Laptop Using VirtualBox

From the title itself is to create a virtual PC on the laptop, but even so it still is not limited to laptops, but also menyakup computer or what is often called the PC, so here you should be able to distinguish between a laptop with a PC. Although the heck is the same but in general, or someone more familiar if it meant Notebook laptop (portable PC / computer) or a computer that can be taken anywhere. While the PC one more call to the computer desktop or home computer, do not be portable.
Why even the definition of quasi-clever jelasin same laptop PC anyway. Okay, back to the topic. Either a PC or laptop PC can also be made virtual. Artificial means to make the PC inside a PC. So if now you have a PC / laptop, now the Virtual PC you can have a second PC.PC in the PC. It could also be called OS on the OS, Operating System in the Operating System. There's confusion.
So why the hell should be made virtual PC? Or what is the use of virtual PC? Virtual PC is usually used for those who want to test the software but do not want to install it directly on their computer, with the intention that if the software has some disadvantages / risks if it is installed. For example, the software is still in the testing phase or is still beta. It is still beta software has some bugs, so it could affect the future of computer work. With Virtual PC you can install the software.
But as well as on a normal PC, to be able to install the software in a virtual PC you must firstinstall the operating system in Virtual PC. Well, this one also uses a virtual PC, which is to try / try out an operating system without having to install it directly on your computer. But enough is installed on a virtual PC. I usually use more of the Virtual PC to try an operating system that is still in beta stage. And here I make use of virtual destination PC is because I want to tryWindows 8 Developer Preview on my laptop without having to remove the old OS. I have not tried it anyway, but soon.
To create a virtual PC itself we need a virtual PC software, such as Microsoft Virtual PC 2007, VMware, VirtualBox, etc.. But here I gave an example using VirtualBox. Why I chose VirtualBox, because the software is much simpler, the file size small and has many uses, but the shortcomings of the features of VirtualBox is not as complete as VMware or Microsoft Virtual PC 2007. But this problem is not just a trial only.
Here I will try to share the experience to create a virtual PC on a laptop instead of on the Computer Desktop. So to create a virtual PC in your laptop, not all laptops support. I tried to install VirtualBox on Acer Aspire 4741G laptop with the specs:
- Processor 2.27 GHz Intel Core i3
- 320 Gb Hardisk
- VGA NVIDIA GEFORCE 310M 512 Mb dedicatate
- 3 Gb DDR3 RAM
- Operating System Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit
Above specifications may be considered. Especially the processor and RAM. Because now I'm using Windows 7 then if you momori only 2 Gb of RAM is very minimal, although it could be but there will be a warning. But I suggest you use more than 2 Gb of RAM on Windows 7.
After making sure the next step we will install VirtualBox on our laptop. To install VirtualBox, follow these steps.
A. Download VirtualBox installer file via the link below (file size approximately 87 Mb)
- Download from FileHippo
- Download from VirtualBox
Why do I give 2 download link? Who knows a download server is busy'll even make the download so slow. Download it later if you feel you could use a slow download server to another.
2. Install VirtualBox on your laptop by double-clicking the installer file VirtualBox
3. Choose the installation location of VirtualBox, the drive where you will install, or let it default. Click Next
4. You select will make the desktop shortcut or not. Then click Next
5. Warning that will appear during the installation process is all connections to the network will be cut off temporarily, click Yes to continue
6. Click Install to begin the installation process
7. Usually later during the installation process will appear several times to install the driver warning, just click Install to continue
8. Wait until the installation is complete. If you are finished click Finish to run VirtualBox
After you finish installing VirtualBox on your laptop, the next step is to setup / configure your virtual PC, including how much RAM memory to be used, how much hard drive capacity to be used, etc. depending on the later you are going to install what Operating System. If I will be trying to install Windows Developer Preview 8 Virtual PC settings so pretty much the same if it will install Windows 7. Well how about setting VirtualBox to install Windows 8 Developer Preview? We will discuss in the next article
